For some reason someone found my website by searching this phrase, so I thought I’d have a look and see how I ranked on this obscure wee search. The results had me in stitches…

Coincidence! Yeah, whatever..

September 27, 2006 · Leave a Comment

So Eric Schlosser of Fast Food Nation fame is here promoting the new film (opens Oct 26, I hear it’s very good).  Coincidentally McDonalds are running a ‘don’t worry our food is nice and healthy and the animals we slaughter to make it are killed really nicely and there’s no evil bits added into our food and if you don’t believe us you must be STUPID’ campaign.

Myspace is useful!

September 23, 2006 · 2 Comments

Jesus, I found something else to be nerdy about.  But I found out heaps of stuff!  Like the fact that Kora is coming to Melbourne soon.  YAY!!!!!

And Ben aka Blanket Man has his own Myspace.  Which is pretty legendary and brilliantly unbelievable :)

p.s apologies to those that saw the tie die look.  I was having a twisted moment.  It looks heaps prettier now.

Best joke EVER

September 21, 2006 · 3 Comments

Bono is at a U2 concert in Dublin when he asks the audience for some quiet.

Then in the silence, he starts to slowly clap his hands.

Holding the audience in total silence, he says in to the microphone…

“Every time I clap my hands, a child in Africa dies.”

A voice from near the front pierces the silence…

“Well, f***ing stop clapping then”

Radical quilters

September 21, 2006 · Leave a Comment

The Herald is running a story today about some stonkingly cool women in Rotorua who have made a quilt that “will illustrate the “veil of silence”, images of children will symbolise revaluing the child’s status in society and a rainbow will represent a future of wellbeing.”

That’s some radical craftivism!  Wish I could see it..

No idea why

September 19, 2006 · Leave a Comment

But I got a My Space.

Not because I actually want to use it, but I thought I’d explore the world and see if it’s in any way worthwhile.

Wanna be my friend?

Happy Suffrage Day!

September 19, 2006 · Leave a Comment

Wow my first Suffrage Day in another country! It’s quite nice smugly strutting around pointing out that today is 113 years since NZ became the first country in the world to give (some) women the right to vote.

So to honour today I’ve got a bit arty with a wee image made including the white camelie which is the suffrage flower and a quote from “An Appeal to the Men of New Zealand” by Femina (Mary Ann Muller).

I’ve also done another cross stitch pattern of a camelia which you can find on the Radical Cross Stitch Posse HQ page, which has incidentally been added to quite a bit. Check it out.

Screw the lot of them

September 18, 2006 · 1 Comment

I’m just appalled at the dirty level being stooped to in the NZ media and parliament at the moment.  It’s just not relevant.

As Michael Franti said “I don’t want to know who they’re screwing in private, I want to know who they’re screwing in public!”

Hedgehog Power!

September 1, 2006 · Leave a Comment

Well I’m impressed.  Years of hard campaigning has finally paid off for English hedgehogs and they’ve forced McDonalds to change their packaging.  All we need now is to prove that sparrows are allergic to their logo and we might finally be able to make McDonalds take responsibility for the waste their company produces.  I remember doing a waste audit a few years back and about 80% of the rubbish we found was from McDonalds.  That’s just gross.
