Xenophophic rantings

So today New Zealand First launched their immigration policy at the Orewa Grey Power this afternoon.

An executive summary of his speech is as follows:

They don’t even speak ENGLISH!!
“Now, whenever we raise this issue we get accused of being racist or xenophobic.
However, we raise it for one simple reason.
We actually have a choice about these demographic projections.”

“The first point is the need for a comprehensive population policy.”

“As an initial step we will set up a forensic team to protect the integrity of New Zealand citizenship.
This organisation will be known as the Immigration Inspectorate.”

“The Inspectorate will also act as an immigration “Flying Squad” “

“We will be looking for intelligence – investigative skills – determination – and yes – patriotism.”

“The first must be to create an “undesirables” category, to ensure those from dangerous and unethical regimes are red-flagged before they get here. “

“We will also introduce DNA testing where the nature and status of family relationships is not clear or where there is suspicion of fraud.

We are going to introduce fingerprinting and eye scanning – or in short use biometrics technology available abroad.”

“We will meet our UN obligation to refugees but we believe that our humanitarian benevolence has been massively abused by the family reunification policy.”

Now I’m sorry but that’s got ot be one of the most offensive, nausea-inducing speeches I have ever heard. Winston Peters is a sick, depraved, dangerous man and his ideas are wrong. He is using EXACTLY the same arguments as Hitler. And his audience are the people who supposedly went to war to stop Hitler. I DON’T FUCKING GET IT!! GRRR

RIGHT All you non-stupid people out there who don’t give a fuck about elections, now is the time to pull your heads out of your bums and realise that every eligible vote that isn’t cast increases the influence of the people who swallow Winston’s shit up. Does that make you happy? Do you like the future direction of this nation decided by crazy redneck inbreds who will probably die soon?

Ooh, that was a bit of stereotyping wasn’t it? Will calm down now. Read Keith’s release for a more reasoned, calm response.

Hey y’all watch this seriously odd shit.

  1. there are also people who are not lazy and still don’t vote.
because they have learned that you can’t fight a defect system by participating in it.
it doesnt matter who votes what at the end of the day, as you can see they do what ever they are ‘influenced’ to do and will go very far to make sure that joe & jill voter do not get more say than Mr Fronterra amd Miss Telstra.
the David Lange story shows what happens if an unexpected candidate wins, he got Maneuvered out and simply ignored by those who has was supposed to be in charge of.
voting is not the answer. Civil Disobedience is known to have much more effect.
“Those who profess to favor freedom, yet deprecate agitation, are individuals who want crops without plowing up the ground. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle. Power concedes nothing without a forceful demand. It never did and it never will.

  2. mm. interesting ideas there.

i’d disagree. in new zealand we actually have a pretty damn good representative system. note that we have a transsexual mp and a dreadlocked mp. and a female prime minister.

it’s also not an either/or situation. civil disobedience may or may not have a larger effect but civil disobedience combined with voting for the people who you think are the least crap is better than just civil disobedience.

  3. I’m not sure how many of winnies supporters actually fought in WW2, given that with the exception of a few boy soldiers, our youngest war veterans would be 76.

  4. Thanks for your comments Anna. I am aware there are people who chose not to participate in the electoral system, (friends with a whole heap of them) and all power to them I say. Just maybe not my chosen audience for this particular post.

I agree with Damien, it’s not an either/or situation. My post was not dealing with Civil Disobedience which I agree is ultimately more effective. My post wasn’t about trying to get people to vote to stop Winston, rather to realise that their silent apathy is serving his interests. In this case, less votes cast = each vote has more influence. I was simply encouraging people who cared to consider dulling the influence of Winston’s supporters.

I can appreciate where you are coming from and to an extent I agree however this is an MMP environment and it’s not as simple a power analysis as you have outlined in your comment.

Firstly, Winston aint in charge so ‘the powers that be’ aren’t going to be bothered about manouvering him anywhere. BUT unless you’re out there educating the public about what this man is really standing for, people ARE getting sucked in by this bullshit. There are a whole heap of people out there who genuinely think that Winston is ‘a lovely man who stands up to all those nasty politicians and tells them what he thinks’. Whereas the reality is that the man is about the shrewdest politician in parliament. He only plays the politician game, doubt he’s even got a fucking soul.

Secondly, there is a difference between fighting a system and keeping it in check so it doesn’t take over your life completely. There’s a lot to be said for doing both at the same time. Know thine enemy, so to speak.

Now I could sit here and complain about ‘the system’ and how it’s all corrupt, or I can get off my ass and do something about it. I chose the latter, starting with sharing the responsibility for educating my community, secondly by working to undermine and stop Racist bullshit. I do this in many ways, but I’m obviously not going to spell it all out here. This site is just one vehicle for promoting social change.

Don’t get me wrong, an anarchist revolution would be fun, I’m sure. However I don’t see it happening in the next three years, and I would quite like to keep living in this country in the meantime. And to be honest, I’m more interested in evolution. Going forwards is always more interesting than going round in circles.

Hmm, there are bigger issues here and I’m wokring on some writing at the moment to address these issues, watch this space…

One more thing, I’m assuming that was a quote at the end of your comment, who said it? (out of interest)

And Rich, sorry, that was awfully stereotypey of me. Please forgive that, I was rather wound up when I wrote this original post :o)
